Marathon Oil Corporation, through its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration, refining, and transportation of crude oil and natural gas worldwide.

The company operates in three segments: Exploration and Production; Refining, Marketing, and Transportation; and Integrated Gas.

The Exploration and Production segment explores and produces crude oil and natural gas principally in the United States, Norway, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Gabon, and Russia.

As of December 31, 2005, it had estimated, proved, and developed net reserves of 603 million barrels of liquid hydrocarbons and 1,907 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

The Refining, Marketing, and Transportation segment refines, markets, and transports crude oil and petroleum products primarily in the Midwest, the upper Great Plains, and the southeastern United States.

Its refineries include crude oil atmospheric and vacuum distillation, fluid catalytic cracking, catalytic reforming, desulfurization, and sulfur recovery units.

The refineries process various crude oils and produce refinery products, including reformulated and low sulfur gasolines.

The Integrated Gas segment's operations include natural gas liquefaction and regasification operations, methanol operations, certain other gas processing facilities and pipeline operations, and marketing and transportation of natural gas.

The company has a joint venture with Pilot Corporation, Pilot Travel Centers LLC, which operates travel centers that offer diesel fuel and gasoline, as well as various services, including on-premises brand-name restaurants.

This Joint venture operated approximately 260 travel center locations in 37 states, as of December 31, 2005.

Marathon Oil Corporation was founded by Henry M.

Ernst in 1887 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
